Henry V at the RSC Stratford

A good, but far from great interpretation of one of Shakespeare’s better-known plays. Productions of HV are famous for being tuned to the prevailing sentiments of the time, but this version didn’t seem to know what it was trying to say beyond the very obvious. Alfred Enoch sadly didn’t have the heft for Henry and the Big Speeches were underwhelming. There were two standout performances: Paul Hunter as Pistol and Catrin Aaron in multiple roles. The staging was perhaps the best thing, especially the wonderfully inventive movement / dance sections representing battles. Overall, though, it fell flat. 6/10
